Moose Are Gathering in the Powerline Pass For the Annual Rut Season

Went hiking up the Powerline Pass trail in Anchorage this morning and thought I’d post a few pictures. I saw 5 bull moose and 2 cows in the valley. Had to walk about 100 yards through a swampy marsh to get the closeup shots. I’d say it was worth it.

The moose here in Anchorage generally start their rut around September 10th. Just like clockwork they begin to show up all over the valley. I once saw 22 moose in this area. I’ll go up again this week and try to get some more shots to post here.
