Alaska Railroad

The Alaska Railroad is a Class II railroad that extends from Seward, in the south of the state of Alaska, in the United States, to Fairbanks, in the interior of that state. It carries both freight and passengers between those two cities and to many destinations between them, including Denali National Park. The railroad is 470 miles long.

Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush, this narrow gauge railroad is an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. Experience the breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites from the comfort of vintage parlor cars.
White Pass Railroad
White Pass Summit Excursion
This three hour, forty mile round trip climbs from tidewater at Skagway to the summit of the White Pass – a 2,865 foot elevation! The fully narrated tour features two tunnels, sky–high trestles, cascading waterfalls, historic sites and spectacular scenery! You'll ride in comfortable restored and replica coaches pulled by vintage diesel locomotives. Experience this unique railroad that symbolizes accomplishment in adventure and pioneering – of triumph over challenge.

This 40–mile round trip lasts 3 to 3.5 hours and costs $95. (Kids 3-12 pay half price for all fares.) It goes to the border, at 2,865 feet the highest point along the route, and returns to Skagway.



Lake Bennett Excursion
The railroad's longest excursion runs 80 miles from Skagway to Lake Bennett, British Columbia. The 8.5-hour trip, running Friday and Saturday only, costs $135 for adults.
