5-Day Denali Adventure Itinerary
Day 1 - The tour starts in Anchorage, Alaska's gateway city. After picking you up at your hotel around 11 AM, we will hit the road and head straight for Talkeetna. We'll stop along the way anytime we see wildlife or any scenic photography opportunities. A close-up lens will come in handy for lots of wildflowers. We'll overnight at the beautiful Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.
Day 2 - After some sunrise photography and breakfast, we'll head to the airport for our flight over Mt. McKinley (Denali) and onto a glacier at the base of the mountain. The tour is 3 hours including about 2.5 hours of flight time. After lunch at the hotel, we'll head for Denali National Park. We'll stay at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge for the next three nights.
Day 3 - Early rise today. The bus departs at 5:30 AM. We'll hop aboard the Denali shuttle for our 53 mile trip into Denali National Park to the Toklat River. The tour focuses on scouting out the wildlife in the park, in addition to explaining the historical and geographical background of the area. Frequent photo opportunities and rest stops are made, and a box lunch with hot beverages is included. After the shuttle returns you to your hotel around 2pm, the rest of the day is yours to explore on your own.
Day 4 - We drive 15 miles into the park to the Savage River for a hike and some flora and fauna photography. Ptarmigan are usually there. We'll walk through the tundra to get up close and personal with Alaska's alpine landscape. We'll return around mid-day to town for lunch. You'll have the rest of the afternoon off. We'll then meet up around 7 pm for a drive along the road looking for wildlife and shooting the sunset in the park with the Polychrome Mountains as our background.
Day 5 - Time to head back to Anchorage on the Alaska Railroad. One the most beautiful train rides you'll ever take. The train leaves at 12:15 PM sharp.
