The Alaska State Fair

The Alaska State Fair is held at the Palmer Fairgounds each fall in the beautiful Matanuska Valley.

Over 300,000 visitors show up to see lush flower gardens, record-setting giant vegetables and musical entertainment.

Nestled in the heart of the Chugach Mountains, in the fertile Matanuska-Susitna Valley the Alaska State Fairgrounds are just an hour north of Anchorage..

The Alaska State Fair weekdays, Noon-10 p.m. and weekends and Labor Day, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Railroad to the Fair
The Alaska Railroad will offer drop offs Aug. 24 - 27, 2007 and Sept. 1 - 2, 2007. Departs Saturdays and Sundays from the Anchorage Depot 9 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. and arrives Palmer South Station Fairgrouds at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. It will depart from the Palmer South Station Fairgrouds at 4:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and arrives at the Anchorage Depot 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Departs Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, from the Anchorage Depot 1:30 p.m. and arrives Palmer South Station Fairgrouds at 3 p.m. It will depart from the Palmer South Station Fairgrouds at 10:30 p.m. and arrives at the Anchorage Depot 11:59 p.m. Contact (800) 544-0552, 265-2494 or visit the Alaska State Fair Web site.
